Just stopping by here after another day away. Its pretty slow this afternoon so I thought I'd write a little bit. Had to get up bright and early this morning to head in for the 7 am shift. Those are always fun!

Lets see... what is going on. Well Sox blew it yesterday against the Yankees. They put in that rookie pitcher again. I'm not sure why they did that on what seemed like an important game. So they are now tied back up with Kansas City for first place. We shall see what happens.

So I'm pretty tired now. Like I said got up at 6 am right as I was having a dream that my cat (my cat at my parents') was actually speaking to me. She's squeaky enough, she doesn't need to actually start using speech!! Took a shower, dried my hair and was out the door to a cab to work by 6:45 or so. Got here a few minutes before the shift started. Now I must go home and try to look a little more decent for company. Will 3:30 ever get here?

Tuesday, August 19 my sister took me out for my birthday which was the next day. Actually the afternoon started kind of weird when she called me to tell me she had gotten rear-ended on the way home from work. She has like a brand new Jeep Liberty so I was thinking the worst but I guess it did nothing other than put some smears on her spare tire which is actually the tire and not a cover so those now appear to be gone. She was sort of shaken up too and had had sort of a hard time of it when it happened because the people who bumped her did not speak English. Fortunately she didn't have to deal with insurance or the police or anything. I asked her if she still wanted to go out and she did which was probably good for her. So we went to Mambo Grill which was awesome as usual. They have great chips and salsa there, good drinks and the food is the best. I had the chile rellenos which is one of my favorites and Steph had the guava glazed chicken which she said was also really good. We split a piece of coconut creme pie for dessert. She got me a few small things which included bath gel and splash from Bath & Body Works which is like my favorite stuff!!

In the process of this busy week I somehow forgot that my parents' anniversary was August 23 so I had to end up calling them the next day! Oops! I think Steph may have forgotten too. She and her friends had gone camping over near the Indiana Dunes for a day. Sounds like they had a good time. She borrowed my tent and sleeping bag and stuff. Guess all those girls ended up surviving because I've talked to Steph since! ; )

Trying to think of other things I could have missed. I think I'm remembering all of the highlights here. Still watching Sox games and they're still doing well and in first place. The game last night against the Yankees was so awesome. All of those homeruns and a grand slam by Frank Thomas!! It was so great.

Lots of random thoughts for the day. Yesterday I went to Walgreens and bought that Frizz-Ease hair stuff. My hair is supposedly straight but it would like to be curly and I'm constantly fighting against it. So I thought I'd try the shampoo and conditioner. I've tried the "straightener" in the past which was totally pointless and have recently been using the gel which has helped some. Anyway, I don't think the shampoo and conditioner made much of a difference. I don't know what to do with my hair. Its finally grown out to the point where I like it better but I just don't know how to keep it up. Also for some reason it always looks yellow to me. I prefer it sort of whiter. Anyway maybe that is just my preception. I'm thinking of trying something different next time maybe sort of what my sister has which is like a streaky 3 shades of blonde look. We shall see. Going into Tricoci tomorrow anyway for an eyebrow wax - fun, fun. I feel like I look like such a freak right now.

I'm supposedly going to lunch with my friend Stacey tomorrow. I'm not sure what will come of that because she hasn't gotten back with me yet. Oh well.... Back on the hair thing, my life would be so much easier if 80s big hair was back in style, I could just get a perm and go! ; ) Actually I sort of fear for the day this happens because you just know that look will come back, just like every other look.

Well I'm back. I had various problems with my page yesterday but I think I have fixed them. I didn't get a chance to write yesterday because I was super busy at work. I had like two meetings, plus my phone shift and then the servers were down with the virus that was going around yesterday and so I had to catch up later on a bunch of stuff when the servers came back up. It was a huge pain. I had come into work early, starting at 8 am so I could leave at 4:30 and I ended up not leaving until 4:45 and I didn't even get a lunch hour. I ate my lunch during one of my meetings. It was totally insane! I don't think I've had a day like that since I started here. Today is looking much better!!

So I'm just sitting here on my lunch hour with thankfully not too much to do. I do have a few issues to handle this afternoon and then I'm taking off at 4:30 because I came in at 8:00 am again. Its nice to have those options.

Well back again! The Sox won last night - swept the Kansas City Royals! I am so excited! It was such a great game. I really thought they were going to blow it there in the end but it ended up going 11 innings and had such a great finish. I really didn't need to be staying up that late either as this morning I had my early shift so I wanted to go to bed early. Oh well, it was definitely worth staying up to watch.

I can't even think of what I wanted to write next. Well so I was on the 7 am shift at work today. Was actually able to drag my butt out of bed at 6 am, take a shower, throw on some clothes and then get a cab to work. Thats the only way its going to work for me on these 7 am shifts. 6 am is about the earliest you'll get me awake. I made one attempt of showering the night before and just getting up and hiking it to work (my bus isn't running at this time and walking to the el is just a waste of time) and it worked out but I really almost cut it too close. I don't know, maybe I need to re-think my scheduling issues. I like the 7 am shift though. Its sort of nice to get here, get your work done and then go home early.

Random thoughts of the moment, I really need to go pick up some cash for this weekend and remember to pay my rent!! Also, going over my blog here, do you think I need to add more links? I like my links ... maybe a few more would add something to it.

What else? Oh ... so then the big huge event of this weekend is the Brickyard 400 and I cannot wait to go. I have wanted to go ever since it started and we were just never able to get tickets. It better not rain!!! Looking at the weather sites on the net, they don't seem to optimistic about the weather in Indy this weekend but talking to Mom and Dad the weather guys down there seem more optimistic. We shall see. If it does rain I suppose I can stay over one more day but more than that, I really cannot. I just hate having to drive directly back from Indy to Chicago after races.

So work is going pretty well today. I think I'm all caught up on all of my cases, just waiting to hear back from a few of them.

Well, I think Steph and Katie finally got moved into their condo. I'll have to go over there sometime next week. They're supposed to have a party sometime soon so I guess thats another upcoming social event for me to look forward to.
